Analog video synthesis and the art of the television by Kevin Harris - 06/01/2019

Kevin will discuss the television electron beam as a creative instrument, the history and development of the raster TV scanning system, and how these elements relate to analog video synthesis.

By comparing and contrasting two important ways that voltage signals move an electron beam inside a television (Vector and Raster), we will explore the various techniques and signals that comprise the wide ranging and esoteric field of analog video synthesis.

This discussion is intended for anyone interested in video synthesis, video art, and technology in general. No special knowledge or experience is necessary, though a basic understanding of electronics will be beneficial.
